My VERY Specific (*healthy and productive*) Morning Routine

Hi friends!

I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve written a blog post! I’m excited to share about today’s topic - morning routines! Now, it’s no secret that morning routines are part of many successful people’s daily routine and can help you feel more productive and prepared for your day.

I distinctly remember MANY mornings in college and high school where I would wake up JUST in the nick of time, without having a packed a bag and running around the house like a crazy person to get to class on time and/or late. I generally like to be on time or early and like to be prepared for anything I do, ya feel?

Alright, let’s get into it.

  • WAKEUP TIME: I don’t wake up at the same time every day. It really varies based on what I have to do in the morning. In the past, when I had 6 AM clients, I’d wake up around 4:30 or 4:45 AM but, these days I wake up somewhere between 6 and 7 AM.

  • BRUSH MY TEETH: Boring stuff but, I wash my face, brush my teeth, brush my hair etc etc first thing.

  • TEA AND WATER: I make hot black tea (sometime with a splash of non dairy milk) and grab a big liter of filtered water which I sip on throughout my morning.

  • SKINCARE: I go back to the bathroom and put in my contacts, face oil, lip balm - my “first layer” of skincare, I suppose.

    1. I use the Mosso Skin Oil (amazing stuff!) and will use Aquaphor lip balm or Laneige sleeping mask.

  • MEDITATE: I try to do this every morning (I won’t lie and say I definitely do!!) but, I use the Headspace app to help meditate - usually for 5-10 minutes a morning. I like it because it helps guide me in my time of silence.

  • JOURNAL: Then, I grab my journal and write out my to dos, my schedule, and a few thoughts/things I’m grateful for. I use a journal that has dividers so I can separate work and life.

  • MOVEMENT: I move every day in the morning but, the modality varies. A lot of times, I’ll go on a run, walk, or run/walk just to get outside. I love going along the beaches in my area. If I’m feeling staying inside, I’ll do yoga, stretch/foam roll, or Pilates. It’s usually just 20-30 minutes, but sometimes it’s a full on workout and sometimes it’s just 10 minutes.

    1. Some Yoga Mats I’d recommend (a good mat will help you from sliding in positions like down dog): Amazon fave, Manduka

  • BREAKFAST: I eat something different every day. Since getting to California (due to the warm weather), I was craving smoothies and smoothie bowls but also love…

    • Avocado Toast with Sprouted Bread

    • Peanut Butter, Banana or Jelly with Sourdough Bread

    • Oatmeal, Nut Butter, Fruit

    • Bagels and PB or Non Dairy Cream Cheese

    • Coconut Yogurt, Granola and Fruit

  • SKINCARE/MAKEUP: This is my last step to get “ready”. I always always wear sunscreen, and if I’m going outside, I’ll put it on first thing (before going outside) in “layer 1.”

That’s about it. To do this full routine it takes about 1 - 1.5 hours. When I’m in a rush, I’ll skip or shorten a few steps to condense it. I find that having this “me time” every morning makes me more productive and on task (as I know what I have to do after writing out my to do list), grounded (movement + meditation) and ready to conquer the day!
