My Clean Skincare & Makeup Routine

Over the years, as I’ve come to value “clean” beauty more and more, I’ve made a commitment to slowly transform my beauty closet from MAC heavy to “clean.” It’s been a journey since I have a LOT of product to still get through but, it’s been fun finding new boutiques and stores that I trust. Featured here: Follain, Credo Beauty, Petit Vour and the Detox Market. Here’s a helpful blog post if you are curious as to why it even matters.

Below, you’ll find my thoughtfully curated routine of skincare and makeup featuring some of my favorite products. Scroll to the end for my shopping list of things to buy.

I keep my routine simple, easy and clean as I usually have less than five minutes to get ready. I’ve made a movement towards clean products and I can say that Follain has become one of my favorite stores to shop. Not only is it a local, independent shop with the chicest store interior, it’s a thriving eCommerce platform to shop your favorites. Support local. Support clean. Support small businesses. And, even better, now that I’m a Follain Ambassador, you can shop all of Follain’s site at 15% off with the code ref15_ftqxrx!

MAKEUP

If I’m going to wear a “full face” of makeup, it usually looks like this. Every day it’s a little different depending on the workout/shower situation of the day. Right now, I am still trying to use up all of my ‘non clean’ beauty products so I can try out more natural alternatives. Listed are the products I’ve switched over to.

  • Step 1: The whipped texture of the Suntegrity 5 in 1 Tinted Moisturizing Sunscreen makes this super easy to blend in. It has a light, matte feel that never feels greasy. I apply this only when I want to even out redness/any hormonal acne.

  • Step 2: Next, eye makeup. I apply an eye primer and a thin line of black or brown pencil eyeliner. I usually set it with a powdered eye shadow to give it a more natural look.

  • Step 3: Lips. I usually just swipe on this Noto Botanics Lip and Cheek Tint in Ono Ono on my lips to add a boost of color and hydration. It’s a great, pigmented tint that can be use on your cheeks when you’re in a pinch (I, on the other hand, have a permanent flush).

OTHER FAVORITES & WISHLIST ITEMS

  1. If you want to start somewhere, start with Follain’s Clean Essentials ($90) kit. It includes a facial wash, toner and the Golden Hour Recovery cream and it’s a great way to try out full priced items at a discounted price. It’s $76.50 with my discount code!

  2. My husband loves the Ursa Major Hoppin’ Fresh Deodorant ($18). It’s peppermint scent is totally unisex and it is very effective.

  3. I’m not quite ready to jump on the anti-aging train. But, when I turn 25, I will turn to the Tata Harper Restorative Eye Cream. Who knew staying young would be so pricey..

  4. I hate most eye makeup removers but, on the list of things to buy is the One Love Organics Cleansing Oil. This will easily remove all makeup over the sink due to the oil based cleanser. I’ve tried and also love the Goop Melting Cleanser.

  5. If you just want to try out a few trial sized items, I could not recommend the Petit Vour Beauty Box or the Follain Clean Essentials Trial kit more. I’ve had both and they’re both amazing ways to get a taste for how effective these products can be.
